Having Christian parents, I was brought up to go to church and read the Bible. When I was about seven I became aware that I needed to make a personal decision to ask Jesus to be my saviour. It didn't seem a very big thing at the time and I repeated the same prayer several times over the next few years because I had never experienced the dramatic changes that I heard about when some adults became Christians.
By the time I was thirteen I was quite sure that Jesus was both my Saviour and my Lord and I was baptised as a public demonstration of my faith.
In the years since then there have been good times and not so good times in my life but I have never doubted that God was with me. There's a verse in the Bible where God says 'For I know the plans I have for you... plans to give you hope and a future' (Jeremiah 29:11), which I have often found very reassuring.
It's especially good to know at the moment because I've been off work with a long-term illness and need to find a new job. It's really good to have the peace of knowing that God has a plan for my life and that I can trust Him with my future.
